A First Solo Exhibition for Celebrated Travel Photographer, Nico Trinkhaus
From 30th September 2025, Lisbon Airport will host a special cultural installation featuring photographs by travel photographer client, Nico Trinkhaus. This is to be Nico’s first solo photography exhibition.
German-born photographer Nico Trinkhaus is celebrated for his award-winning, vivid images of European cities and landscapes. He moved to Lisbon in 2019 and later settled in Estoril in 2024.
He has been inspired by his new Portuguese home to create a series of images that truly celebrate the heart of Portugal.
The exhibition, titled CORação – Colours of the Heart, is a vibrant collection of nine photographs capturing Portugal’s riverfronts, coastlines, and countryside. Each image is a study in colour, designed to evoke emotion and invite viewers to pause, breathe, and appreciate the beauty of everyday life.

Lisbon Airport Photography Exhibition To Highlight the Colours of Portugal
Around three million travellers who pass through Lisbon Airport from 30th September through to 15th November will have a unique opportunity to experience the exhibition in the Arrivals Hall (behind security). It will offer travellers a moment of inspiration as they go about their journeys.

About CORação – Colours of the Heart
(Portuguese: cor = colour · coração = heart)
Trinkhaus’ CORação – Colours of the Heart photography series invites the viewer to slow down, leave stress behind, and see the beauty of Portugal in full colour. Each photograph features a palette chosen to evoke a single feeling or inner experience — a gesture long familiar to painters but less common in photography.
Travel photographer, Nico Trinkhaus, said: “Colour is woven into the very heart of life here in Portugal, and it is this that I wanted to convey in this collection of images.”
He continues: “Personally, this is very significant for me as it is my first solo exhibition after having been part of group exhibitions across Europe. The Lisbon Airport is truly a dream venue. I always thought an airport would be a great place to exhibit and enjoy art, as they are places where we often have time to pause.
For this to happen here in Lisbon, and for the Arte Institute to invite me as a non-Portuguese artist, makes me feel truly honoured. I love this country very much and I’m happy to give back with a display of photographs depicting its beauty.”

About the Artist: Nico Trinkhaus (Berlin, 1988 → Estoril)
Nico Trinkhaus is an award-winning landscape and cityscape photographer. He describes himself as a “mind blind” photographer — born with aphantasia, the inability to visualise images. For him, photography is both a memory and a means to share the places and emotions he encounters.
Through his platform Sumfinity.com, Nico shares stories that honour both the diversity and unity of Europe. His work, available as fine art prints, has been featured in exhibitions and publications across Europe. Additionally, via workshops and writing, he teaches photographers to cultivate a personal visual style and adopt a more intentional practice.

Landscapes and Cityscape Photography by Nico Trinkhaus
For me, it’s always a joy to work with a photographer who so clearly loves their subject and wants to share that love with others. Nico’s CORação – Colours of the Heart is not just a photography exhibition; it’s a celebration of Portugal itself, told through the eyes of someone who has embraced it as home.
If you’re travelling through Lisbon Airport this autumn, take a few minutes to experience the exhibition — it’s a moment to pause, appreciate, and immerse yourself in the colours of the heart of Portugal.
