For the past 18 months, I’ve been organising and hosting these regular marketing meetups for professional photographers in Poole.

What began as a simple idea — to create a friendly space for photographers to network, prioritise and discuss marketing — has now grown into a supportive, loyal and growing group of photographers from across the area, and the feedback has been incredible.

Meet Your Host – Zoe Hiljemark

Hi, I’m Zoe, a PR & marketing consultant, SEO strategist and visibility mentor specialising in helping photographers get seen, get published and attract clients. I’ve 23 years of marketing experience and have been supporting photographers for more than 10 years.

In the summer of 2024, I decided to create something local — a friendly, supportive space where Dorset photographers could learn, share and grow together. Now known as The Photo Marketing Community™ (Dorset), the group has gone from strength to strength!

Meeting regularly in beautiful Poole, Dorset, these marketing-focused events have become a highlight of my calendar, and will hopefully become yours too!

This community is for professional photographers local to Poole, Dorset, and those based further afield who are happy to travel to Poole-based events.

We meet once per month (except in August (summer break), and in December, the format changes slightly as we have an (optional) festive lunch instead.

The idea is to come together, discuss, share and explore marketing ideas, tactics and what’s working now, with me – Zoe Hiljemark – as your host. It’s an informal meetup where we prioritise talking business, but also make connections and form friendships.

It’s a welcoming group space and the conversations are varied and interesting each time, with strategic input from me, a PR and marketing consultant and mentor to photographers.

You’re welcome if you are a professional photographer (of any genre), whether full- or part-time, and is someone who wants to meet other local photographers and industry professionals.

You’ll enjoy the events if you are someone who enjoys learning and improving, and would benefit from accountability, connection and marketing support.

You do not need to be confident in marketing or to prepare or bring anything with you other than an open mind and a willingness to chat and be a friendly member of the community.

These events are a blend of networking with peers, casual conversations and a marketing workshop, led by Zoe.

There are 10 events held throughout 2026. Tickets cost just £12 per event.

If you know you would like to attend several events, you have the option to purchase either a 3-month or 6-month pass, when available. Doing so means that you book once, and your place is secured for either three or six events, avoiding the need for you to register each month.

No, simply come to the ones you can. Many members come regularly, others dip in when needed. Join the events you want to, for £12 each.

There are 10 events throughout the year, held every month except August (summer break) and December, which is when we’ll have an optional festive event instead (extra charge). The earlier you join in the year, the more you can attend!

The meet-ups are held in Poole, Dorset, usually on the last Wednesday of every month, except in August and December.

Venue details will be confirmed when you enrol, and may change throughout the year. We always head to a venue serving fresh coffee and tasty treats in case you want to grab a bite while you’re with us!

If the weather is good, we enjoy a short walk to the destination from the meeting point, and the route is accessible.

This is not a community for hobbyists or amateur photographers, as the topics of conversation are focused on growing a photography business.

Be assured, our meetups are relaxed, inclusive, friendly and supportive — there is no pressure and no judgment. We are very welcoming. You’ll soon get to know me and the other members.

Yes. Photographers from across Dorset, and any neighbouring counties can join, but meetups take place in Poole, Dorset, UK. All events are in-person, not online.

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. Refunds will not be offered for non-attendance. All purchases are non-transferable. Please only book if you are definitely able to attend.
