Local Photography Marketing Meetups Recognised in the Press
I wanted to share a small but exciting update about the local photography marketing meetups I run in Poole.
Today, the events were featured in the Bournemouth Echo, following their steady growth over the past 18 months, and their evolution into something more structured, regular and bigger than ever in 2026.
The same article was also syndicated online via Yahoo, which has helped extend the reach of the story across Dorset and beyond.
I don’t often pitch myself to the media, as I’m usually pitching my photography clients, so it’s a thrill when it leads to press coverage and greater awareness of something I’m doing within my small business.
A Growing Local Community
As the press article highlighted, the photography marketing meetups I host began as a simple idea: to create a relaxed, supportive space where photographers could meet in person and talk honestly about marketing, visibility and running a photography business.
Like many creatives, photographers often work alone, and opportunities for meaningful, local connection can be limited. These events started in July 2024 and, over time, a small group of photographers began attending regularly.
The events have become a place where local photographers can return to, continue conversations, make friends and feel supported by others facing similar challenges. The community’s steady growth is something I am very proud of and am keen to support and nurture as we move into 2026.
Local Press Coverage
This local press coverage is an endorsement of what I am setting out to achieve with these marketing support and networking events, and has provided a means to reach more photographers across Dorset – a big thank you to the Echo team for their support!
It also serves as proof of the fact that the local media are interested in local news, events and initiatives, and are keen to support local businesses! As a PR consultant, I’m forever suggesting to photographers that they use PR to promote their businesses, as I have done in this case!
This press coverage in the Bournemouth Echo helps to:
- highlight this initiative that is supporting the creative business community in Poole, Dorset
- acknowledge the importance of in-person connection and community
- raise awareness of support available to self-employed photographers.
