Speaking at The Photography & Video Show 2026!
I’m beyond excited that I was selected to speak at the The Photography & Video Show, which took place in Birmingham, U.K. on 14-17th March 2026!
The Photography & Video Show is the UK’s largest event for photographers and filmmakers. It brought together photography industry professionals, educators and brands for several days of talks, learning and discussion. And, it was so busy and well-attended!

I created a Reel after the event, which gives a bit of an insight into what happened on the day. Do follow me on Instagram if you’d like to: @zoehiljemark.
Before this year, I’ve been to the show as a trade visitor on many occasions. I never dreamt that I would ever be officially part of it, but I have always enjoyed going to the show. It’s a great opportunity to immerse myself in the world of photography and to say “hi” to some familiar faces and make new connections.
This year, I was a speaker and was thrilled to be be part of the guest expert lineup. What an honour to be listed alongside many greats of the photography world! #pinchmemoment
This was a HUGE DEAL for me. I want to publicly thank Ruth Folkard and the team who organise the show for giving me this amazing opportunity!
Zoe added another dimension to our content programme; we often cover marketing for creatives, but not PR! Zoe delivered a great session, captivating our audience of photographers with concise, actionable information about how to PR into their marketing strategies.

Beyond Social Media: Why PR Matters for Photographers Now (more than ever!)
I was invited to speak on my favourite topic – PR for photographers. The session focused on why now, more than ever before, photographers need to look beyond social media. I emphasised that it was time to get serious about PR to get noticed, build trust and win clients.
It’s been my observation that photography shows and conventions are typically quite focused on the art of photography, rather than marketing. And, even if marketing is covered, the talks and seminars cover social media marketing and perhaps email marketing. But, PR is rarely discussed.
So, it’s refreshing that the 2026 Photography & Video Show team embraced the idea of including a talk on PR this year. After all, it’s a marketing strategy that is so powerful, but often overlooked.
My view is that while most photographers rely heavily on Instagram, referrals and word of mouth, far fewer use PR as part of their marketing strategy. And that’s despite it being one of the most effective ways to build visibility, authority and trust.
For many photographers, PR is the missing piece that helps turn great work into a more resilient, credible and sustainable business.
The Photography & Video Show 2026
My talk at The Photography & Video Show was on Monday 16th March 2026. It was a practical introduction to PR for photographers, with actionable ideas shared with attendees.
I explained what PR and publicity are, and positioned them as not something reserved only for large studios or high-profile photographers. PR is an accessible and powerful visibility tool for photo pros at all stages of their careers, and I was keen to highlight this.
I talked about PR activities such as securing features in industry publications or local press, appearances on podcasts and the earning of high-authority backlinks. And, I explained how they all help photographers build long-term visibility that compounds over time.
Did we connect at The Photography & Video Show?
Marketing, PR and visibility skills are now essential, not optional, for photographers who want to stand out in a crowded market. If we met at the show, or you came along to my talk, it was great to see you there!
