Dorset’s Photography Marketing Community: Learn, Connect & Grow
A dedicated local community bringing photographers together to learn about marketing, share ideas and become more visible.
There are plenty of opportunities to meet other photographers. But the Photo Marketing Community™ (Dorset) is a little different.
These events are specifically focused on the business and marketing side of photography, bringing photographers together in Poole, Dorset to learn practical ways to improve their visibility, share experiences and make progress with their marketing.
Whether we’re talking about SEO, blogging, PR, Google Business Profile, content or simply how to become more consistent with your marketing, the emphasis is always on helping you build a photography business that more of the right people can find, trust and choose.
So, are you a professional photographer in Poole, Dorset (UK), or the surrounding areas? If so, these relaxed, friendly meetups are for you!
They offer the chance to connect with me and with other local photo professionals in a supportive, welcoming environment.

Connection, Marketing Support and Accountability
The idea is simple: we all get out from behind our desks and meet in person.
They offer a chance to meet new people, share ideas and experiences, discuss business and marketing openly, and enjoy the company of fellow photographers who understand the unique challenges of running a photography business.
And the feedback from photographers who’ve already attended has been incredibly encouraging. In my recent attendee survey (August 2026), 100% of respondents said they definitely plan to attend future events in 2027, while 83% rated their overall experience 5/5 (with the remaining respondent giving it 4/5).

Why join an upcoming photography networking event?
As you’ll already know, networking is a vital part of growing a successful photography business. Yet many photographers don’t have access to local networking events created exclusively for photographers, and that’s exactly what these events offer.
These Dorset photography networking events provide:
- A local, in-person community without the need to travel far or take a full day out of the office
- A relaxed alternative to generic business networking groups
- A safe space to talk openly about photography marketing, visibility and business growth and your experiences and struggles
- The opportunity to meet me (Zoe Hiljemark) and pick up practical PR and marketing tips
It can sometimes feel isolating running your photography business, and these events are designed to change that. Don’t struggle with your marketing alone!
Come to our meet-ups in Poole, and get valuable accountability, support and encouragement, while expanding your network!

What do photographers say about the events?
I recently asked photographers who have attended the Photography Marketing Community so far in 2026 to share their honest feedback about the events:
- 100% said they would definitely attend future events in 2027
- 83% rated their overall experience 5/5, with the remaining attendee rating it 4/5
- 83% identified learning practical marketing strategies as one of the things they value about attending
- 83% value connecting with other photographers
- 83% value the fresh ideas and inspiration they get from the events
- 83% value sharing experiences with other photographers
- 67% highlighted accountability and motivation
- 67% said the events help them feel less alone in their business
But perhaps more useful than the numbers are the photographers’ own words.
One attendee said the Photography Marketing Community helps them:
“Realise I’m not the only photographer who struggles with keeping on top of marketing.”
Another said it helps them:
“Connect with other people in the same boat and inspires me to take action.”
And another described the benefit as:
“A marketing focus each month, with clear advice and steps that I can implement.”
That combination of practical marketing support and connection is exactly what I hoped to create when I started these events.
Running a photography business can sometimes feel isolating, particularly when you’re trying to make sense of your marketing on your own. Getting together with other photographers gives you the chance to share what’s working, talk honestly about what’s difficult and leave with fresh ideas and renewed motivation.
As one attendee put it:
“It helps me realise I’m not the only photographer who struggles with keeping on top of marketing.”
What happens at these events for Dorset photographers?
The Photo Marketing Community™ (Dorset) networking events provide space to:
1. Connect with me and other local professional photographers
Build genuine relationships with industry pros and photographers who understand your work and challenges, and who may become collaborators, referral partners or simply friendly faces you see each month.
2. Share knowledge and experience
We talk openly about photography marketing, business growth, visibility, and what’s working right now.
3. Get inspiration and insights on what’s working for others
Learn from others’ successes and challenges, and get inspired to try new approaches in your own photography business. You’ll leave feeling motivated and clearer about your next steps.
And it’s great to see that ideas discussed at the events are being put into practice too. When I asked attendees what they’d implemented or changed as a result of coming along, responses included improving their website SEO, starting to blog and posting more frequently on LinkedIn.
As one photographer put it:
“I’ve improved my SEO and started blogging, and increased the frequency of LinkedIn posts thanks to Zoe’s encouragement.”
4. Enjoy a friendly atmosphere
These events are informal, welcoming and non-competitive. There’s no pressure, no pitching, and no judgment.
One attendee summed up the atmosphere particularly nicely:
“I don’t feel competitive with other photographers anymore. Everyone is so lovely.”
That means a lot to me, because creating a supportive environment based on collaboration rather than competition has been important from the start.
Who are these networking events for?
Whether you specialise in weddings, portraits, wildlife, commercial, or any other type of photography, you are welcome to join the Photo Marketing Community™ (Dorset), and attend as many of these Dorset photography events throughout the year as you wish.
These networking events are designed for professional photographers of all genres, including (but not limited to):
- Wedding photographers
- Portrait & family photographers
- Commercial & brand photographers
- Wildlife, documentary and fine art photographers
Whether you’re early in your business or well-established, you’re welcome.
The only requirement is that you are running (or actively building) a photography business. These events are not designed for hobbyists or amateur photographers, as the focus is on marketing and business growth.
I also ask that everyone attends with a positive mindset and in the spirit of collaboration over competition. You may be networking alongside photographers working in similar niches, and the friendly, supportive vibe of these events is something I actively protect.
How often do the Dorset photography networking events take place?
In 2026, there are 10 in-person networking events for Dorset photographers, all held in Poole.
- Events are usually held on the last Wednesday of the month
- Events are held every month, except December (when we meet for an optional festive lunch instead)
- Each session runs for 2 hours (9–11am)
- Dates are shared in advance so you can plan ahead (more information here, including 2026 event dates)
Meeting regularly allows photographers to attend more consistently and get far more value from the community over time.
Venue details are confirmed when you book and may vary, but we always meet in Poole, Dorset.
What should you bring with you?
You’ll need money for transport or car parking, and for a coffee or drink of your choice.
Bring your camera along if you wish, but this is essentially a coffee date and a marketing-focused session, not a photography event. There is no practical photography element to the event.
We usually meet for approximately 2 hours (9-11am), and if the weather and venue allow, we walk and talk before having a coffee somewhere on our route. (Venue details are confirmed when you book).

How can you attend these networking events for Dorset photographers?
Pay-As-You-Go
Attend individual networking events for £12 per event (inc VAT).
This is ideal if you’d like to try a session first or attend occasionally.
Secure your place at the next event.
